"Slowly” take the strip and/or cap off the cartridge as the instructions indicate, air can build up in this chamber during shipping and squirt ink out of the top vent hole. Keep the cartridge/s upright (like they sit in the printer).
•Be sure to remove any spacers between the tab and the cartridge body, if applicable.
•Our cartridges may not list all of the printers they will work in on the box; do not be concerned if your printer is not listed. The most important thing is having the correct model number cartridge for your printer.
The clear advantage of a high quality generic or remanufactured cartridge versus a new OEM is the value of price plus quality. Sometimes a printer will not “read” the new computer chip on a cartridge right away, this is referred to as a “Cartridge Recognition Problem”; a few models may not have chips (typically green or black with gold metal).

“Cartridge Recognition Problem”: A printer will not “recognize a cartridge” or continue unless
“it thinks” all tanks have enough ink. If you are close to being out of ink in a different cartridge than you just changed and the printer will not recognize the new cartridge, you will need to change the other extremely low on ink cartridge/s for success even if they were printing before changing the “out of ink” cartridge. Once you are sure each cartridge has more than 1/8th of a tank of ink and if the printer will still not recognize the new cartridge/s, proceed to the following procedure:
Give the printer time between steps (It is CRITICAL to follow ALL steps to force the printer to reset itself) Remove the cartridges, close the lid, turn your printer off AND unplug it, wait one minute. Turn the printer on, after the printer resets itself, install the cartridges (be sure they snap in place, bend the tab out, if needed). If the printer asks if you want to “continue” say yes. **Be sure to check your ink levels before you run out of ink**
•Printer maintenance tips: when you get the low ink indicator for your (current and future) “black” cartridge (there is no need to clean when every color cartridge is running low), run all built in cleaning cycles and a print head alignment; see your instruction manual or your printer’s electronic window for maintenance. Cleaning is part of the cost to print; similar to an oil change is part of the cost to drive.
•Recycle Program: In an effort to reduce waste, we will accept the following empty cartridges ONLY (do not remove these chips): Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL-41, CL-51, and CL-52 (no other Canon’s); All Dell, All HP, and All Lexmark. If you would like a return bag with a pre-paid label, email us at customerservice.inkjetsrus.net@gmail.com with your order number and/or contact information.
----Recycle for all other cartridges: please remove the computer chip (if applicable, typically green or black with gold color designs) from the cartridge with a pair of pliers and dispose of this chip. Place these empties in your plastics recycle bin for your local waste management.
Procedure for a Cartridge that is recognized but will not print
If your cartridge will not print, four things can cause this:
1) When you change a cartridge that has run out of ink and you have another cartridge that is extremely low on ink. An extremely low ink cartridge may not create enough pressure to allow the printer to pull ink out of the new cartridge. If your printer uses tanks you can not see through, we recommend checking your ink levels BEFORE changing a cartridge.
2) A nozzle is clogged in your printer. Run the built in cleaning cycles in your printer. If the other remedies do not work, your printer may need service.
3) ***This is possible if you must remove a pull tab from the cartridge*** The cartridge could be “air locked”. Meaning, air is not passing through the vent hole into the cartridge allowing ink to flow. This hole is typically under the cartridge label and it will be connected to the area where you pulled the tape off the cartridge (possibly via a small channel). Peel the label off, if necessary and be sure all the tape and its adhesive residue are removed from the vent hole, poke a safety pin in the hole and through the cartridge body approx. ¼ inch.
4) The ink has dried out at the ink hole opening on the bottom of the cartridge. To remedy this situation, please follow these instructions:
a) Lay a dry paper towel next to your sink
b) Fold up another paper towel to approximately a 3"x3" square
c) Run hot water over the folded up paper towel
d) Hold the wet towel against the ink hole/s on the bottom of the cartridge and slightly scrub (Keep the cartridge upright)
e) Repeat this procedure until you see a solid amount of ink on the paper towel. The foam inside this compartment will keep the ink from running out.
f) Once you see the ink, wipe the plastic cartridge tank off with the dry paper towel and place the cartridge in your printer
g) Run 2 cleaning cycles and one print head alignment
