We are able to fix 99.9% of the few problems you can't fix with our involvement (if needed), without using additional cartridges.
Based on our detailed instructions and support we provide and our super low prices, we do not deviate from our policies under any circumstances. Ultimately, our policies help keep our prices low for you!

It is understandable to 'assume' a problem is due to a replacement cartridge, however in our experience with a high-quality cartridge like ours, a problem is RARELY due to the initial replacement cartridge. There is usually another problem that needs to be uncovered, 98% of the time one or more other colors in the printer are too low to allow the printer to 'accept' or 'print' with the replacement cartridge and must be changed even if they were printing before running out of ink or toner. This is based on ALL printer brands and models require an adequate amount of ink or toner in ALL colors for the printer to function, this includes all three colors in a 'tri-color' ink cartridge.

>>INSTRUCTIONS<<

For: "Ink" Cartridges (inkjet printers) and "Toner" Cartridges (laser printers). Not all instructions apply to both types of cartridges, each instruction will specify either: "Ink only", "Ink & Toner", or "Toner only".

(Ink & Toner) Our cartridges may not list all of the printers they will work in on the box, do not be concerned if your printer is not listed. The most important thing is having the correct cartridge model number for your printer. It is impossible to list all the new printer models on the boxes with new printers being introduced every month.

(Ink & Toner) If you haven't had a "maintenance routine" in the past and you have changed more than two black cartridges without maintenance, we recommend to immediately run ONE built in nozzle cleaning or toner cleaning cycle for ALL colors (if you have color cleaning choices) and ONE print head alignment BEFORE your current cartridges run out of ink or toner and BEFORE replacing any cartridges, then follow our "printer maintenance tips" moving forward (our 'printer maintenance' topic is below). Do NOT run the 'nozzle CHECK' function and see this "Ink only" topic below about "nozzle CHECK". See your instruction manual or your printer's electronic window to find the maintenance section.

(Ink only) BEFORE CHANGING a cartridge, check the ink levels of ALL colors. This will provide the information on what other cartridges/s may need to be changed for success. This is based on all printer brands and models require an adequate amount of ink in ALL colors for the printer to function. This includes all three colors in a 'tri-color' cartridge.
In case you didn't check the ink levels before changing a cartridge, and the printer will not 'recognize' a new cartridge, reinstall the 'out of ink' cartridge in the printer to get the ink level reading or if your cartridges are clear, take each cartridge out your printer and visually inspect them. See our FAQ 12 to help you understand what you are looking for..

(Ink only) Shake the cartridges vigorously 3-4 seconds before unwrapping and installing. Keep the cartridge/s upright at ALL TIMES (upright as the cartridges sit in the printer). Using a folded up paper towel to capture any excess ink, VERY SLOWLY take the strip and/or cap off the cartridge, if applicable (not all cartridges have tape or a cap to remove), air can build up in this chamber during shipping or shaking and squirt ink out of the top vent hole or drip a drop or two of ink from the bottom ink hole.

If ink squirts or drips, this will not harm the cartridge in anyway. Wipe the cartridge off and avoid touching the cartridge computer chip (if applicable) and the cartridge will work fine. Always USE EXTRA CAUTION when opening and handling liquid ink cartridges also known as 'inkjet' cartridges.

(Ink only) Remove any protective spacers between the tab and the cartridge body, if applicable.

(Toner only) Remove any protective tape or coverings on the cartridge body, if applicable.

(Ink only) If your inkjet cartridge will not snap into place, bend the tab out slightly to allow the tab to catch the cartridge holder.

(Ink only) Do NOT use the printers "nozzle CHECK" function to determine printing functionality, this feature is not accurate in any printer brand using remanufactured cartridges. The only way to determine printing is too actually print something.
Type 20 capital I's on a WORD document or in a new email. Leave the first 5 black, highlight 5 light blue (cyan), 5 light red (magenta), 5 light yellow, and print the 20 characters 1-2 times. This will tell you if the printer is printing the 4 basic color shades.

(Ink & Toner) Store your cartridges upright (like they sit in the printer) and indoors, away from temperature extremes. We recommend checking each box to be sure the cartridge is sitting upright in the box.

(Ink only) One of the limitations of using remanufactured cartridges is the ink level reading is not accurate in approximately 40% of the cartridges within the industry, using our cartridges this percentage is only 15%. All of the ink you purchased is in the cartridge only the printer will not accurately read the level. Continue using the cartridge and ignore the low on ink warning until the printer finally says you must change the cartridge to continue.
This limitation will affect all inkjet brands except Canon and Brother. This will not affect the cartridge recognition. The printer will determine if a cartridge is new and the ink level will not register correctly or if the cartridge is too low on ink or out of ink.

(Ink & Toner) PRINTER MAINTENANCE TIPS:
When you get the low ink or toner indicator for your black cartridge* (there is no need to clean when every color cartridge is running low), run ONE built in nozzle cleaning or toner cleaning cycle for ALL colors (if you have color cleaning choices) and ONE print head alignment. Do NOT run the 'nozzle CHECK' function and see this "Ink only" topic above. See your instruction manual or your printer's electronic window to find the maintenance section.

Nozzle cleaning helps keep the ink or toner flowing; the alignment helps the printer mix colors correctly and maintain clarity. Cleaning is part of the cost to print; similar to an oil change is part of the cost to drive.
*If you are a high-volume printer, only clean and align when every other black cartridge runs low.
ON A YEARLY BASIS, we recommend to run ALL other maintenance built in to your printer. These functions may include: roller cleaning, bottom plate cleaning, etc.

(Ink & Toner) RECYCLING:
To reduce land fill waste, please place these empties in your plastics recycle bin. We do not accept empty ink or toner cartridges.

Trouble-Shooting Instructions for Cartridge Recognition

(Ink & Toner)
Cartridge Recognition Problem:
Sometimes a printer will not read the computer chip on a new ink or toner cartridge and won't 'accept the cartridge', this is referred to as a "cartridge recognition problem" (this has nothing to do with a cartridge being accepted and not printing, see the printing topic below).

(Ink only - all toners use chips) Very few ink cartridge models do not use a computer chip (a green or black board with gold metal designs); do NOT touch this chip with anything including your fingers, cotton and alcohol, etc.

There are TWO CONDITIONS that can cause the "recognition problem". Unfortunately, all printer brands and models are built to not function unless there is an adequate amount of ink or toner (toner = color laser printers) in each color of ink or toner, the minimum ink or toner level is determined by each printer model.

#1 = 98% of ALL problems) NOT ENOUGH INK OR TONER IN ALL COLORS (toner would be a color laser printer):
No printer brand or printer model will recognize a cartridge or print unless ALL colors have enough ink or toner (this includes each color of ink in a tri-color inkjet cartridge). Again, this is based on all printer brands and models require an adequate amount of ink in ALL colors for the printer to function. This includes all three colors in a 'tri-color' cartridge.

If you are close to being out of ink or toner in a different cartridge than you just changed and the printer will not recognize the new cartridge, you will need to change the other extremely low on ink or toner cartridge/s for success even if they were printing before changing the out of ink or toner cartridge.

Our recommendation for MINIMUM ink or toner level is 'more than' 1/4 and changing additional cartridge/s at '1/4 or less' of their maximum ink or toner level. It is IMPORTANT to check your ink levels BEFORE changing a cartridge. Each printer model will ultimately decide its minimum ink or toner level.

The low on ink or toner condition in a different cartridge WILL affect the name brand cartridge AND our cartridge; this condition is out of our control. If you are not sure how much ink/toner is in the other cartridge/s and you can't get an ink level reading because the printer will not accept the new cartridge, reinstall the out of ink/toner cartridge in the machine to get this reading or if your cartridges are clear, take each cartridge out your printer and visually inspect them. See our FAQ 12 to help you understand what you are looking for.

#2 = only 2% of problems) PRINTER NEEDS TO BE RESET to erase the printers memory:
If you have a black & white laser printer that doesn't use additional colors, proceed to the reset procedure, if necessary. This procedure will ONLY WORK under the following circumstances without exceptions.

A) ONCE YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE ALL COLORS have 'more than' 1/4 of a tank of ink or toner. If you are low on ink or toner in a color and you don't have a replacement cartridge, this procedure will NOT fix this condition.
B) Warnings from a printer saying something like: "you are not using name brand cartridges" must be removed (or dismissed) first by clicking the printers "OK" button or see the owners manual for suggestions and/or possibly search online for a remedy. Resetting the printer will NOT make this warning go away. This is only a deterrent (somewhat of a scare tactic by the printer manufacturer) and will not affect your printer warranty in any way. See our FAQ 6 for clarification.

Once A and B are satisfied and if (and only if) the printer will not continue, proceed to the following steps:
Give the printer TIME TO CATCH UP between steps (it is CRITICAL to follow ALL steps to force the printer to "reset" itself and erase the memory), it may take 2 to 3 times following this procedure to get the printer to reset:

Remove ALL cartridges, close the lid, wait 30 seconds for the printer to settle, turn your printer off AND unplug it from electric power (CRITICAL for success and memory erase), wait two minutes. Plug the printer back into electric power, turn the printer on, after the printer resets & settles (approximately 45 seconds), install the cartridges (Ink only-be sure they snap in place, bend the tab out, if needed). If the printer asks if you want to continue, select 'yes'.
The goal is to start fresh, like when the printer was brand new out of the box with no cartridges installed.

The condition of the printer not "initially" recognizing our cartridge/s providing all other colors have an adequate amount of ink or toner will only affect our cartridge, not the name brand cartridge. The printer possibly needing to be "reset" to accept our cartridge only happens approximately 2% of the time.

*Always check your ink or toner levels BEFORE changing a cartridge to know all the cartridge levels and realize what other cartridge/s may need to be changed.

**Printers are like any other piece of electronic equipment. If you turn them off AND unplug them from electric power for two minutes, they reset themselves and erase memory once they are plugged in and turned back on. A printer specifically is fully reset, by taking all the cartridges out and closing the machine up before the OFF, unplug, ON process, similar to when you first purchased the printer and took it out of the box without any cartridges installed.


Trouble-Shooting for a Cartridge that is Recognized (accepted)
but will NOT PRINT

MOST IMPORTANT:

Do NOT use the printers "nozzle CHECK" function to determine printing functionality, this feature is not accurate in any printer brand using remanufactured cartridges. The only way to determine printing is too actually print something.

#1) (Ink & Toner) When you change a cartridge that has run out of ink or toner and you have another color or more that is low on ink or toner. Unfortunately, all printer brands and models are built to not function unless ALL colors have an adequate amount of ink or toner, this includes the 3 colors in a tri-color inkjet cartridge.

Ultimately, the amount of ink to function is determined by each printer model. Our recommendation for MINIMUM ink or toner level is 'more than' 1/4 and changing additional cartridge/s at '1/4 or less' of their maximum ink or toner level.
We recommend checking your ink or toner levels BEFORE changing a cartridge to help you know what other cartridge/s may need to be changed in addition to the out of ink or toner cartridge.

#2) (Ink & Toner) Your printer needs cleaning. If you have followed a 'routine maintenance' like our "Printer Maintenance Tips" above, typically this is not an issue. If you have not routinely maintained your printer, you may need to run 1-3 nozzle/toner cleaning cycles to get ink or toner to flow and prime the printer.
Always follow the 'total' cleaning cycles by ONE print head alignment. Cleaning helps keep the ink or toner flowing and the alignment helps the printer mix colors correctly and maintains clarity.

#3) (Ink only) Ink has dried out at the ink hole opening on the bottom of the cartridge. This condition can affect cartridges that have been stored for a while. To remedy this situation, please follow these instructions:
- Touch the ink hole with a folded up paper towel and feel if the sponge is hard and you don't see ink on the paper towel, if so continue.
- Turn the cartridge sideways (NOT UPSIDE DOWN) over your sink. **USE CAUTION** if you were instructed to remove tape to expose the vent hole on the top of the cartridge. Ink will pour out of this hole and we recommend to cover this area with a folded up paper towel.
- Run hot water over the ink nozzle/s for several seconds until this dried ink barrier softens and you see a small amount of ink. The sponge inside this compartment will keep the ink from running out.
- Rub a folded up wet paper towel against the ink hole/s and once you see a solid amount of ink on the paper towel, wipe the plastic cartridge tank off with the dry paper towel (avoid touching the computer chip on the cartridge) and place the cartridge in your printer.
- Run 1-2 nozzle cleaning cycles and one print head alignment.

#4) (Ink only, if applicable) The cartridge could be air locked if the tape or glue is not completely removed from the top of the cartridge. Air is not passing through the vent hole into the cartridge allowing ink to flow. Be sure all the tape and adhesive residue are removed from the top vent hole, the tiny vent hole will be located in the center of where you removed the tape, if applicable.
